In a longstanding international football tradition, Krakatoa the crocodile from Townsville’s Billabong Sanctuary has predicted the winner of the Queensland Football Series match between Australia and Brazil at Queensland Country Bank Stadium, choosing Socceroos!
With the city’s football fever in full swing, Townsville locals and international visitors tuned in to witness the icon of North Queensland’s match prediction ahead of the blockbuster Queensland-exclusive event.
Following in the footsteps of football oracles Paul the Octopus, Swimbappe and Mani the Parakeet, the 5.1 metre saltwater croc is now bringing a distinctly North Queensland flavour to the longstanding tradition.
Queensland Country Bank Stadium Venue General Manager Cameron Jones said it’s great to give the visiting team a taste of North Queensland.
“We’re excited to welcome the five-time World Champions Brazil and what better way to show them what North Queensland is all about than involving our iconic Townsville wildlife,” Mr Jones said.
“Whether he picked Australia or Brazil, there's no doubt the real winner will be the fans heading to the game who will be treated to an exceptional match of international football right here at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.”
“This is one of the biggest football games on the Australian calendar this year and it’s going to be huge, so we’re encouraging fans to plan their trip, have their tickets downloaded, and arrive early to soak up the great atmosphere of the stadium.”
