01/06/2026

The 2026 Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship presented by Monster Energy will officially roar to life in Townsville this October 3, with Queensland Country Bank Stadium confirmed as the battleground. The event will transform one of Australia’s premier NRL stadiums into a full-scale Supercross and Freestyle Motocross spectacle under lights for the first time ever.

Supported by Tourism and Events Queensland (through the Australian and Queensland government Disaster Recovery Fund for North Queensland) and delivered in partnership with Townsville City Council through the team at Townsville Enterprise, the event is expected to attract 20,000 fans, to Queensland Country Bank Stadium, home of the Cowboys NRL squad.

The AUSX Townsville Season Opener will feature some of the world’s best Supercross racers and for the first time ever, integrate a full-scale Freestyle Kings LIVE show — bringing elite FMX athletes, massive tricks, explosive production and thrilling entertainment into the already jam-packed AUSX Supercross event experience.

This event marks the first time an AUSX Supercross event has been held in the North Queensland region, positioning the city affectionately known as ‘The Gateway to the Barrier Reef’ front and centre on the global supercross calendar.

Queensland Country Bank Stadium Venue General Manager Cameron Jones said it’s fantastic to be making history, delivering another first at the venue in a motorsport event.

“The energy of supercross is a perfect match for Townsville’s vibrant sporting culture and we can’t wait to welcome fans from all over the country to Queensland Country Bank Stadium for this world-class event,” Mr Jones said.

“Queensland Country Bank Stadium was built to provide a regional hub for major events, and it’s great to continue to deliver such a wide range of content, from major international sporting fixtures to concerts and motor sport.”

The Boost Mobile AusX Supercross Championship opener in Townsville is jointly supported by the Australian and Queensland Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

Minister Andrew Powell said the Crisafulli Government was proud to support the Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship opener in Townsville as part of Queensland’s growing pipeline of major events.

“Townsville is a fantastic host city for an event of this scale and AUSX is expected to inject more than $7.13 million into the Queensland economy,” Minister Powell said.

“Townsville continues to cement itself as Australia’s home of major events and sport,” Ms Brumme said.

“Bringing the opening round of the AUSX Championship to Townsville is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the city to audiences across Australia and internationally, generating over an estimated $9 million economic boost for the region.”
