Townsville MP Scott Stewart said the match would be watched by in excess of 10,000 fans in the stadium and up to a million worldwide via broadcast networks.

“This is a world-class event, at a world-class stadium that will put North Queensland on the map,” Mr Stewart said.

“This fight will also showcase the wonderful multi-purpose potential of the stadium for future acts, but it will help promote the region internationally, with broadcast deals confirmed for Europe, Asia, the United States, the United Kingdom and New Zealand.” he said.

About 15 trucks full of staging and equipment began arriving last Friday to transform Queensland Country Bank Stadium for the fight. About 40 crew will prepare more than 5000 square metres of flooring, 3000 chairs, an international size boxing ring with a 13m high roof along with two big screens on either side, to ensure fans don’t miss a second of the action.

Queensland Country Bank Stadium Manager Mirella Taylor encouraged fans to plan ahead to ensure a great night out.

“We’re really excited to be able to showcase another amazing event in our new venue and we know fans are excited too, so we want them to plan ahead to ensure the best experience possible,” Ms Taylor said.

“Importantly, we will be asking fans to follow our COVID-Safe venue protocols to help protect fans and staff, and it’s also important patrons and road users are aware of changed traffic conditions to accommodate the Super Cars event, including the closure of Boundary St as well as the usual closure of Lowths Bridge.

“Subtly, every event is different so check our website to figure out transport options,  find the location of your gate, determine what you can and can't bring to the show, and don’t forget to print your ticket so you’re ready to go.”

Gates open at 5:00pm with the first undercard at 5:30pm and the main event at 9:30pm.
